8 graders and 9 graders: Past Simple Tense

Use:

actions that happened in a determined moment in the past.

actions that started and finished in the past.

Form:

Regular verbs: Verb+ed

Irregular verbs: LIST OF IRREGULAR VERBS*

Aff: Sofia went to the cinema last Saturday.

Neg.: Catarina didn't participate a lot in today's classes.

Interr.: Did Zé and Gustavo travel to Czech Republic?

As you can see, you need the verb to do in the past (DID) to build both the negative and the interrogative forms.

When you write did or did not the main verb appears in the infinitive.
