  10, 11, and 12 graders - Extensive Reading Project 2021/22

During the second term, you are going to present to the class the book you have chosen to read. You should present it at the beginning of January. (in order to avoid stressful moments in March).

PAY ATTENTION to this:

You are going to have up to 15' / 25' to present your work.

You must speak about 5/6 main topics: (you can add more topics if you consider them to be crucial to the understanding of your story).

(you must take into account that you are not texting to classmates; you are presenting a book in a more formal context.)

These topics are to guide you. You do not need to have this order. Remember that you may add topics you consider fundamental.

1) The story in general (summary of the story)
- read some of the passages  that were important to the story

2) Main characters 
- explain their main characteristics
- read some passages which show the behaviour of the characters you chose to speak about

3) Moment of the story you most or/and least enjoyed
- read the passage(s) 

4)  Show your classmates three expressions you have learned with the reading of your story. Your classmates must write them down in their notebooks.

5) Explain why would you recommend (or not) the book

6) As a plus you can also speak about the writer and the time when he or she lived in. Moreover, you can bring music, objects, etc. which might help you to involve your class.

- read the passage which was reveleaving for the end of the story

Tips:

A)

Pick an appropriate book. The most important criteria is to choose a book at the correct reading grade level. 

B)

Make sure you know what the teacher wants. How long will it be? What must it include?

Follow the assignment.

C)

Read the first chapter. Write three/four sentences to summarize the first chapter; two sentences to describe the main characters introduced in the chapter, the setting and any other important details, and the other two sentences to describe what happened in the chapter.

D)

For every other chapter, write one to three sentences summarizing the chapter. Be sure to talk about the action and characters. What did they do and why? What happened or developed? What new things did you learn about the characters?

E)

Add all of your summaries onto one paper. You should organize it into paragraphs according to the sections of the story, or the beginning, middle and end.

G)

In case you choose to use PPT's in your presentation remember that you should have pictures instead of text in your slides. Of course, you can write one or two main words.

I)
