8 Graders: Have or Have Got??!!

Today my Students were puzzled with these "two" verbs: "teacher, but why do we usually see both                                                                                                    verbs?"

Well, it goes:

To have got - is the usual verb in British English (BrE)

To have: a) the forms have and forms with do/does/did era the usual way to show possession in                             American English (AmE);
                b) also used in formal situation, such as I have no objection!;
                c) also common in informal situations: Sorry, I don't have a clue!
