You have been studying two verb tenses that might be complicated! We have looked at them in class, made a few exercises and now it is time for you to study alone and check if you have doubts!

Let us have a look at PRESENT PERFECT SIMPLE!

Use:
- Recently completely actions.
"I have just finished my test, teacher"

-Actions which happened somewhere the past. You don't know exactly when it happened.
"She has been to New York."

- Emphasis on the number of times something happened.
"He has won these competitions for the last three years."

Form:

have/ has + past participle

Expressions of time:

just, ever, already, never
for, since
always, how long, so far, recently

Now let us look at PRESENT PERFECT CONTINUOUS!

Use:

- Actions that began in the past and continue up to the present moment.
"My back hurt! I've been digging in the garden."

- Emphasis on the duration of the action.
"How long have you been reading this book?"

- Actions expressing anger, irritation or criticism.
"I am freezing! I have been waiting for hours!"

Form:

have/ has + been + gerund (-ing form)

Expressions of time:

For, since, how long
