Lovely students,
We began this year reading a text about "How to break the ice". Here, we came across certain expressions, such as:
- show your bright side
- Be positive
- Smile
- Be a good listener
- Do not avoid being around new people
- Approach the group
- Do not worry if you blush or your palms sweat
Afterwards we read another text. This time about Body Language. Here, we gained this notion that our eyes can transmit what we are thinking and a clenched fist in the Ocident is one thing and in China is something else.
Smile, hug, raise eyebrow, bite nails, clench fist, frown, blush, shake hands are some of the gestures that show how you feel. For instance.
The third text we read was about dealing with conflicts. Some of the ideas taken from the were:
- cool off
- count to 10
- take a deep breath
- imagine yoursel in a relaxing place
We also wrote a greeting card to: a) congratulate someone, b) wishing good luck, c) had a family problem ann we showed our sympathy ...
We used informal language, so we can use contractions (I'll), simple linkers (and, so), we can omit the subject in the sentence (Hope you feel better - instead of I hope you feel better) and we used short opening and closing remarks (Hi Jean, See you soon)
This blog was especially built for my students. It has not only resumes and videos for our classes, but it also has grammar tips and it will work as another mean of communication between us during this lockdown. Remember each person has his own pace, so use this blog to work at home at your own rhythm and watch videos more than once.

9 graders - Unit 1 vocabulary
Wonderful Students,
we started our first module "Socializing".
At the moment you are working with new expressions, such as:
break the ice, be positive, smile, approach, palms sweat, tips, fancy, blush etc.
You can not only read the texts that appear in your book, but also do some vocabulary exercises that you have in your workbook.
