In English there are Prefixes and Suffixes.
For instance, the prefixes un-, im-, dis-, in, are associated to the meaning of contrary.
On the other hand the suffixes give a different meaning to the main word:
-ish (boyish) means the person behaves a little bit as a boy.
-less (careless) means without care.
-ful (thankful) means quantity.
